4mm Pattern, Semi-Opaque/Patterned glass generally used in bathroom windows where a level of privacy is required. Toughenable.
Self Clean Clear/Blue 4mm and 6mm - The ideal choice for situations where cleaning will be difficult or costly (e.g. high rise buildings, conservatories and roof lights), or where good visibility is important.
AntiSun Grey/Bronze 4mm and 6mm - A medium performance solar control properties, reducing solar heat entering the building, enhancing comfort and reducing the need for cooling the building
Planitherm 4S (Four Seasons) - Offers excellent solar control properties, reduced glare and enhanced thermal insulation. Planitherm 4S provides true year round comfort when used throughout the conservatory.

Toughened or tempered glass is a type of safety glass processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared with normal annealed glass. Tempering puts the outer surfaces into compression and the inner surfaces into tension. Such stresses cause the glass, when broken, to crumble into small granular chunks instead of splintering into jagged shards as plate glass (aka: annealed glass) creates. The granular chunks are less likely to cause injury.

Where is Toughened Glass Required?

Protective Tape is used to cover the sharp edges of the glass panels. This is purely used to assist in handling and adds some protection to the delecate edges. When fitting in to timber frames using glazing tape or sealants (wet fit) then it can be an advantage to request the units to be supplied WITHOUT the protective tape. Please note that this option is only available on units with Spacer Bars of 12mm or less.

4mm Softcoat, a clear Low Emissivity Glass with a coating on the inside of the inner pane that reflects heat back into the building giving thermal insulation performance, Toughenable. This is standard for Domestic Use.
6mm Softcoat, a clear Low Emissivity Glass with a coating on the inside of the inner pane that reflects heat back into the building giving thermal insulation performance, Toughenable, generally used for bigger units over 2.5 metre sq in area.

A double glazing window comprises two panes of glass, separated by a spacer bar and seals to create a hermetically-sealed environment. The cavity width between the two panes, argon filling used and the type of spacer bar, are all key factors in the unit’s final energy, solar and acoustic insulation properties.

The cavity is filled under vacuum conditions with Argon inert gas to improve insulation and prevent condensation within the unit. The recommended cavity width for Low E energy saving double glazing window when filled with Argon is 14mm and above.

Our Standard Sealed Units are all filled with Argon Gas. Gas-filled units are considered more thermally efficient and are often referred to as 'high performance' (providing the unit is constructed with an emphasis on preserving the gas within it). The requirement to pass EN1279 part 3 standard and the pressure to gain a C+ Window Energy Rating (WER) is creating an increasing demand for units that are gas-filled.
